Fundraiser to benefit Pen + Brush and Heliotrope foundation.

The Heliotrope Foundation, a nonprofit founded by Swoon to help communities respond and heal after natural disasters and other urgent social crises, is teaming up with Pen + Brush, a 123-year-old, nonprofit fighting for gender equality in the arts for a co-fundraiser organized by Mashonda Tifrere, founder of ArtLeadHER.

Pen and Brush supports the premise that art and literature are vital aspects of the human experience. Art and literature created by women deserves to be recognized and valued on its merit—not judged by the gender of the maker. Pen and Brush’s rich history in art and literature is also a chronicle of women persevering and coming together to lift each other up and support each other’s efforts. It is from a place of common mission-oriented work Pen and Brush is collaborating with artist and philanthropist Caledonia Curry, Swoon, with this fundraising event that will benefit the work of both 501(c)(3) non-profit entities. The event will take place in the context of our current exhibition King Woman curated by Mashonda Tifrere who has been a longtime champion of women artists as a collector, and who more recently founded ArtLeadHER—toward the ultimate goal of effecting real change in the marketplace for all women artists.
