Back in March of this year, Julia Volchkova (Julia Woolf Art) stayed in Rupanyup (Australian Indigenous word for branch hanging over water) and fell in love with the “town with open arms.” She turned her attention to the town’s youth and their great love of team sport, capturing the Rupanyup community spirit through local sports team members, Ebony Baker and Jordan Weidemann. This video looks at the changing cultural landscapes of country towns in Australia, and the vast opportunities reviving the populace. We talked to the people of Rupanyup and neighbouring towns, about their love of small towns, inclusiveness, camaraderie and the strength to survive.
